[Go to Colombianos] Overview
Even though the Colombians in Pittsburgh are not an organized group--we don't get together on a specific date and are not a well-defined group with common interests or political purposes--we are integrated not just because "we came from Colombia." We are integrated for the desire to see each other, which is a way to see ourselves; the desire to hear each other, which is a collective way to listen; and, the desire to get together, as a cultural expression: talking, playing or watching soccer games, hearing music, and dancing, that's Colombia in a nutshell.
Colombians are dispersed throughout the city. Each one in the microcosm of their immediate community and only in occasional, happy, and often random encounters with other "paisanos," there is a chance to share opinions and talk about "what is going on in the country." A warm welcome to all!
